Welcome to the online home of Central North Carolina Search & Rescue.  We are a group of highly dedicated people and dogs that train to help find missing people in a wide variety of situations.  Our specialty is Wilderness Search & Rescue and we have highly trained personnel in Search Management, Canine Air Scent, and Man-tracking.

Tracking Class Feb 4-6 2011

Discover the ancient art of man-tracking. This class will introduce tracking techniques of a higher skill set than is taught in a FUNSAR. This is an intensive program, with moderate to strenuous off-trail hiking. More information at: http://www.cncsar.org/filemgmt_data/files/tracking2011.html

Wilderness Survival and Outdoor skills weekend Oct 29-31 2010

   Two of our members, Liz and Roger, went to a three day long Wilderness Survival and Outdoor skills weekend in Appomattox, VA. The training was held at the Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center. It was taught by two instructors who were experts in the fields of wilderness survival, search and rescue, primitive skills, and tracking.  See the Media Gallery for more photos!

Being at the Right Place at the Right Time

     CNCSAR member Randy Young was at his regular job at the Town of Louisburg Water Treatment Plant when he heard a helicopter flying over. Curious, Randy went outside and, sure enough, there was a military helicopter circling overhead. Just then, the Sheriff and several Deputies pulled in to the parking lot where he stood. Since Randy knows them personally through his work with the Volunteer Fire Department, he greeted them by name and asked what was going on. They told him that they had spotted a marijuana field nearby from the air, and saw a man running from the area.
