Welcome to the online home of Central North Carolina Search & Rescue.  We are a group of highly dedicated people and dogs that train to help find missing people in a wide variety of situations.  Our specialty is Wilderness Search & Rescue and we have highly trained personnel in Search Management, Canine Air Scent, and Man-tracking.

Search exercise at the Eno Feb 25th

General News

Central North Carolina Search and Rescue (CNCSAR) invites you to join our Mock Search on Saturday, February, 25, 2012, at the Eno River State Park in Durham, NC.

This will be a complex multi-victim search with medical issues. Be prepared for search and rescue!

 

0830 Check-in

0845 Briefing

0900 Depart on first missions

1700 Search should be complete

 

IC will be at Few’s Ford in Eno River State Park (7946 9395). Communications will be on 155.16. Dog teams are welcome; no equine or ATV teams allowed. Bring a SARTECH II pack and plenty of water. Be prepared for inclement weather – the exercise will proceed rain or shine (or snow!)

Silver Alert lifted after 75 year old found

CNCSAR was in standby this morning for a call out to assist in the search for a Silver Alert subject.  She was found about 1.5 miles from the last known point and CNCSAR was asked to stand-down by Raleigh PD.  They thanked us for being willing to assist if our services were needed.

 

A Raleigh woman who was the subject of a Silver Alert Friday night was found Saturday morning about a mile and half from the assisted living center where she lived.

National Night Out 2011

The team participated in the 28th Annual National Night Out in two locations this year.  Part of the team was at the Cary Towne Center location while others were at the Beaver Creek location in Apex.  We had a good time helping to bring awareness to children and their parents about what our search team offers. Western NC (Burke County) Exercise 2011

SAR Topics

 The team got an excellent work out in the mountains of NC in the spring exercise.  The exercise was located in Burke County and began on Wednesday night and went through Sunday morning with 12 hour operational periods. There were great opportunities for each person to participate however they wanted. You could be in the hillside on a search team to assiting in the IC.  Check out the pictures in the media gallery.

Tracking Class Feb 4-6 2011

Wilderness Survival and Outdoor skills weekend Oct 29-31 2010

   Two of our members, Liz and Roger, went to a three day long Wilderness Survival and Outdoor skills weekend in Appomattox, VA. The training was held at the Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center. It was taught by two instructors who were experts in the fields of wilderness survival, search and rescue, primitive skills, and tracking.  See the Media Gallery for more photos!
